star As a business executive, there are a few things you should know about your logo. Every entrepreneur has his or her own ideas of what a logo is or should be. I would like to pass along a few tips to help you in your quest.

Black and White

Your logo should look good in black and white.  When you send a fax, your logo should be clear and legible.

Small and Big

A quality logo looks good and is recognizable at small sizes.  When prinitng up business cards, letterhead or envelopes, your logo will shine.

Keep it Simple

Simple logos are more easily recognized than complicated ones. Think about the Nike logo and then try remembering what's on your state's flag.

The Test of Time

Logos often get a face lift, but the overall design stays the same thoughout time. Don't go with a logo that will be out of date in 5, 10 or 20 years.

The Right Format

If your graphics program or designer hands you a logo in "rasterized format" (such as .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .tif) you should be asking for your money back. A real logo will drafted in a "vector format" (such as .ai, .eps).

Of course, other tips would include keeping multiple backups of your logo, using it on your marketing products tactfully and trademarking or registering your logo through a company like LegalZoom.

As always, Simply Smart Media can help you with all of your logo design and management needs.
